Following
the success of our Heritage Lottery Funded project, we are now building
handling kits for schools beyond the Canterbury District with the support
of the Kent Archaeological Society.
What
is a CAT KIT?
A stimulating cross-curricular resource suitable for all National Curriculum
Key Stages and school club activities. Each kit contains:
• Pottery, building and animal bone fragments of pre-Roman, Roman,
medieval and post-medieval date. Many of the finds have been donated
by the Dartford District Archaeological Group.
• Booklet describing the finds plus some teaching ideas and additional
classroom materials.
• ‘How big is your pot?’ measuring chart.
• ‘Feely Bag’.
• ‘THE BIG DIG’ Canterbury Whitefriars, CD of photographs
about the excavations
Plus special ‘CAT
KIT’ pages of colour photographs, illustrations and reconstructions
related to the objects at www.canterburytrust.co.uk/schools/catkit01.htm
